Slugging Cedar Park shuts out Badgers

The Lampasas High School baseball team ran into a buzzsaw Tuesday when it traveled to Cedar Park for a non-district game.

Cedar Park cranked out 12 hits, and LHS committed six errors as the Timberwolves rolled to a 17-0 win.

The Badgers (2-5) are scheduled to get at least four games in the Killeen Shoemaker Tournament, which opened Thursday morning. LHS head coach Brian McBeth said it will be four opportunities to correct the problems his team had on Tuesday.

"We've got to stop making so many errors - stop shooting ourselves in the foot," McBeth said. "I want to see us play games where we have one or fewer errors defensively, put the ball in offensively and give ourselves a chance to win. I just want to see us play up to our capabilities."

Against Cedar Park, nine Badgers struck out, and Cody Bailey's second-inning single to right field was the Badgers' only hit.

Kyle Landry got the start on the hill. Landry came into the game with 8.1 scoreless innings under his belt, but was touched up for eight hits and 12 runs in less than an inning of work. Four Cedar Park pitchers combined on the one-hitter.
