LHS tennis competes at Fredericksburg

The Lampasas High School tennis players saw plenty of action at the Fredericksburg Tournament over the weekend.

Each Badger player and doubles team got to play between three and five matches against players from Fredericksburg, Mason, Uvalde, Levelland, Wimberley and Kerrville.

"Those are all top teams in the state, so this is a very good tournament for us to go to," LHS head coach Kenneth Peiser said. "I hope some of the players were able to see how important practice is this week. Some of them were off on their timing and their shots due to lack of effort in practices. You can only get better by practicing, not just showing up and playing."

The boys' doubles team of Zach McKenzie/Phillip McLain went 2- 2 on the weekend. Fellow doubles tandem Jesse Cox/Stan Smith went 1-3.

The mixed doubles team of Ciara Salazar/Caleb Wales went 1-3.

The girls' doubles team of Kayla Krueger/Amy Johnson went 1-2. The girls' doubles team of Macy McPhearson/Kristine Smith moved up from the junior varsity and went 1-3.

In girls' singles, Abby Peterson went 2-3, and Laura Terrazas went 0-4. In boys' singles, Josh Tucker went 0-4.

The LHS junior varsity is scheduled to play at Copperas Cove on Thursday. The varsity will play at Copperas Cove on Friday.
