Youths sought for Texas Brigades

Texas Brigades is seeking students ages 13-17 with curiosity and enthusiasm about wildlife, habitat and conservation to attend Texas Brigades summer camp.

Each camp is a five-day program focusing on one of four educational curriculums: Bobwhite Brigade (quail), Buckskin Brigade (deer); Feathered Forces (quail and turkey) and Bass Brigade.

Mission of Texas Brigades is to empower high school youth with the skills and knowledge in wildlife and fisheries, habitat conservation, land and water stewardship, teambuilding and leadership to become ambassadors for conservation to ensure a sustained wildlife and fisheries legacy for future generations.

Six camps take place this year across Texas:

-- Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade near Coleman, June 14-18.

-- South Texas Bobwhite Brigade near Pleasanton, June 22-26.

-- Bass Brigade, Lake Buchanan at Marble Falls, July 7-11.

-- South Texas Buckskin Brigade at Albany, July 13-17.

-- North Texas Buckskin Brigade at Carrizo Springs, July 20-24/

-- East Texas Feathered Forces Brigade at Lufkin, July 27-31.

Each camp consists of intense, interactive, fun learning from some of the top wildlife and natural resource professionals in Texas. Subjects covered include biology, habitat, management, watersheds, population dynamics, ecology, botany, photography, journalism, firearm safety, fishing, communications, critical thinking, team building and leadership.

Adult volunteers are sought. No experience is necessary.
