Cattle Auction

The report from the Feb. 20 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 595 compared to 536 last week and 665 last year. Feeder steers and heifers steady; slaughter cows $1-$2 higher; and bulls steady.

Bulk supply medium and large 1- 2 250 lb. to 700 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Feeder steers and heifers accounted for 80 percent and slaughter cows and bulls 20 percent of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 50 percent of the run and heifers 50 percent. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs. totaled 20 percent.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $123- $134; 400-500 lb., $121-$129; 500-600 lb., $111-$118; 600-700 lb., $100-$110; 700-800 lb., $90- $102 yearlings.

Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $104-$119; 400-500 lb., $108-$119 lb.; 500-600 lb., $99- $110; 600-700 lb., $90-$99.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200-300 lb., $110- $115; 300-400 lb., $113-$120; 400-500 lb., $111-$119; 500-600 lb. $95-$107; 600-700 lb., $88- $96.

Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $100-$110; 400-500 lb., $99-$110; 500-600 lb., $90-$95.

Medium and large frame 3: 300- 400 lb., $87-$90; 400-500 lb., $86- $93.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 80-85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $53-$59, high dressing, $63 lb.; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $50-$55; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $54-$60; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,000-1,200 lb., low dressing, $48-$52; lean, 85-90 percent, 800- 1,000 lb., low dressing, $45-$51.

Slaughter bulls: yield grade 1- 2, 1,200-1,800 lb., $60-$62; high dressing, 1,900 lb., $70.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 900-1,300 lb. cows, 5 to 8 months bred, $700-$1,100 per head; aged, 900-1,200 lb. cows, 5-8 months bred, $550-$700 per hd.
