LHS tennis teams brave cold against Pflugerville

The Lampasas High School boys' and girls' tennis teams got in some cold-weather work Friday when they hosted Pflugerville in wind chills that dropped into the 30s.

LHS head coach Kenneth Peiser said his teams approached Friday's action as opportunities to improve their play against solid competition.

"Friday was a chance to allow players to focus on shots and strategies," Peiser said. "In tournaments, they've been so worried about winning, they don't work on anything, but Friday they relaxed a little more and just worked on shots."

The boys' doubles team of Stan Smith/Jesse Cox bested Pflugerville's No. 1 and No. 2 teams.

Laura Terrazas won a girls' singles match. The team of Abby Peterson/Zach McKenzie won a mixed doubles match. The tandems of Kayla Krueger/Ashley Perkins and Alex Miller/Amy Johnson won girls' doubles matches. The team of McKenzie and Phillip McLain won a boys' doubles match.
