LHS powerlifting teams compete at Stephenville

Competing in a tournament that featured close to 450 total powerlifters, Lampasas High School individual boys and girls fared well at the Stephenville Invitational on Saturday.

For the LHS girls, Stephanie Smith brought home her third gold medal in as many meets. Susie Goodspar finished seventh, Shelby Faught eighth and Daphne Velez ninth.

On the boys' side, Brandon Skelton and Jesse Tobar each finished fourth.

Tobar lifted 1,340 total pounds in the 220-pound weight class, and Skelton hoisted 1,115 pounds in the 148-pound class.

Eric McCarther and Zac Bryant each finished ninth. McCarther lifted 1,070 pounds in the 165- pound division, and Bryant totaled 765 pounds in the 132-pound class.

Garrett Gould placed 12th in the 198-pound class.

Kacey Tucker and Cory Summers finished 15th at 148 and 181, respectively.

Justin Manigault placed 17th at 148 pounds, and Matt Finto finished 28th at 165 pounds.

The Badgers and Lady Badgers are scheduled to close out their regular-season schedules on Saturday at the Del Valle Meet.
