PEC to offer rebate program for commercial lighting

Pedernales Electric's Green Works environmental initiative has added a new feature: the Commercial Lighting Rebate Program. This program offers incentives to help Pedernales Electric members install energy-efficient lighting in existing commercial buildings or new construction within the service area.

The new lighting must reduce electric demand by at least 50 kilowatts to qualify. Rebates are $150 per kilowatt reduced for new commercial construction, or $300 per kilowatt reduced for efficient lighting installed in existing buildings.

PEC representatives will perform a preliminary survey after members submit a completed application. The survey calculates an estimated kilowatt reduction and determines rebate eligibility. If the project qualifies, members have one year to complete the equipment installation. PEC then will conduct a final inspection to verify the lighting systems installed and determine the actual kilowatt reduction and rebate amount.
