Burnet event to benefit scholarship fund

The first Andrew Ivicic scholarship fund-raiser is Feb. 23 at Galloway Hammond Recreation Center in Burnet.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a barbecue supper, and a dance will be from 7 p.m. to midnight. Silent and live auctions will be held throughout the night.

Cost is $20 for adults; $8 for those under 12; and free for ages 5 and under.

Ivicic was a 2006 Burnet High School graduate and varsity football player. He was killed in a motorcycle accident in August 2006.

Bands to perform include Just Add Water, Somewhere in Texas, Quintin Dubec, Steven Franks Band and Les Hartman.

Event proceeds go to The Hill Country Community Foundation which gives scholarships to graduating seniors.
