Raffles to raise funds during show
A feature of the event is the raffles. Tickets are sold in advance, and the drawing takes places during the two-day show in March. This year, three items will be raffled off: an afghan made by Susan Detrick; a quilt made by Joyce Lucas; and a knit beaded purse made by Phyllis Poehlmann. Mrs. Detrick is a member of the Needle Art and Quilt Show Committee. She has been quilting and creating needle art for many years. The afghan she donated for the raffle is large and crocheted in the "delicate diamonds" pattern surrounded by lacy fans. It measures 60x76 inches and is a rich sage green, cream and light tan. Mrs. Lucas, committee chair, donated a stackand whack kaleidoscope quilt measuring 51x51 inches. It is in deep purples and greens. The Patch Work Pal Quilters provided the hand-quilting. Ms. Poehlmann is a Lometa-based needle artist. She donated a black knit, beaded evening handbag that measures six by eight inches. The bag has a gold metal clasp and an arm-length gold chain.
All three raffle items can be viewed at Lampasas Art Gallery on downtown Courtyard Square. Tickets, at $1 each or six for $5, are on sale at the gallery Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and at the museum on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets also can be purchased at the Lampasas County Courthouse on show days. The Needle Art and Quilt Show: Stitches in Time is set March 7-8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the courthouse, the Lampasas County Office Building and museum. Admission is $5 for adults, and $3 for children under 12.
