LHS boys', girls' soccer set to battle Copperas Cove today in 8-4A action

Angel Waters: Scored OT goal to lift LHS past Killeen.
The Lampasas High School boys' soccer team will be looking for its first District 8-4A win, and the LHS girl's soccer team will try to maintain its momentum when the two teams take on Copperas Cove tonight.

The Badgers (0-3 in District 8- 4A) will travel to Copperas Cove, and the Lady Badgers (1-2 in district) will play host to the Lady Bulldogs. Both games are slated to start at 7:30 p.m.

The Badgers are coming off a 4- 0 loss against Killeen last Tuesday.

The Lady Badgers are coming off a 1-0 overtime win against Killeen on Wednesday.

Using a new formation, the Lady Badgers battled the Lady Kangaroos to a scoreless tie in regulation behind the stellar goaltending of Bonnie Wallace.

During the overtime period, Angel Waters made that goaltending stand up, sneaking through the Killeen defense and beating the Killeen keeper in a one-on-one situation.

"As soon as I saw it set up, I knew she would score," LHS coach Debbie Mason said. "She practices one-on-ones with Bonnie Wallace and has the experience, confidence to keep the ball until just the right instant. Their keeper came out, and just as she was collapsing into her slide, Angel gently tapped the ball right under her."

The Lady Badger girls' junior varsity battled Killeen to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday.
