Mrs. Medders

Velma Medders
Graveside services for lifetime Lampasas County resident Velma M. Medders were Feb. 11, 2008, at Center Cemetery near Lometa.

Mrs. Medders died Feb. 8 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas. She was 89.

She was born Nov. 12, 1918, in Lampasas County, to George Jefferson and Mary Jane Dooley Jennings.

She married Denver Medders on Dec. 20, 1936, in Lampasas.

Mrs. Medders worked for Producer's Produce in Lampasas and saw that company through several name changes. She retired when it was Armour Turkey Plant.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting and was a member of the Chadwick Home Demonstration Club many years ago.

Mrs. Medders was the greatgreat granddaughter of Gordan C. Jennings who fought at the Alamo.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Patricia Kelley, and husband, Carl, of Lampasas; sons, Eugene Medders, and wife, Nola, of Haughton, La., and Richard Medders, and wife, Ponice, of Lometa; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Medders was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, three brothers and one sister.
