PERFECT!
Lady Badger freshmen finish 26-0

2007-08 LHS Ninth-Grade Girls' Basketball Team
The Lampasas High School freshman girls' basketball team went about its business as if there were nothing more than a win or a loss at stake on Tuesday.

Despite the pressure of closing out a perfect season, the Lady Badgers jumped out to a 12-3 lead en route to a 36-24 win over Dripping Springs. The win capped a season that saw the team finish 26-0 overall and 14-0 in district.

"I have to admit, I was a little nervous about it last night," a smiling coach Jimmie Cain said after the game. "But the girls came out and played great."

As they've done all year, the Lady Badgers spread the wealth on offense. Marisa Bogart scored a teamhigh 12 points, while Madison Morris and Jennifer Herron scored 10 and eight, respectively.

Falon Holland scored six points and tied teammate Morris with nine rebounds. Morris also finished with four steals.

Bogart registered six steals, three assists and three rebounds. Herron recorded four rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Ashley Summers had two steals and an assist. Kallen Vann finished with three rebounds and an assist.

Dripping Springs JV Girls 42, LHS 33: The Lady Badgers got nine points apiece from Lori Stafford and Kaylyn Urofsky to finish the season 13-15.

LHS JV Boys 48, Dripping Springs 41: The Badgers picked up their fifth win of the season at home on Tuesday.

Eduardo Davila and Astin Murray scored eight points apiece.

"We played a much better game than we had been playing," Coach Kyle Black said. "We need to improve our mental toughness in the second half, but the guys are playing hard and fighting to the end."

Vista Ridge 9th Boys 43, LHS 28: After falling behind 25-8 at the half, the Badgers' rally fell short last Friday.

Colton Perkins and Jamaal Harvey scored five points apiece, while Joey Burks and Ryan Peter each added four.

"We played our best defense of the year," Coach Ben Needham said. "But on offense, we need to work the ball around and wait for a good shot."

Dripping Springs 8th A Boys 46, LMS 39: Lucas Atkinson scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Badgers shot 23 percent from the floor.

Brandon Scott and Justin Maldonado scored seven points apiece, and Bailey Millican and Tanner Swinford each scored six.

LMS 7th A Girls 39, Marble Falls 22: Kailey Davis scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Lady Badgers to a seasonclosing win.

Tori Liverman scored 10 points, and Mackenzie Benton added six as the Lady Badgers finished 5-8.
