A glance back at livestock news Richard Williams of Lampasas recently discovered an item of possible interest to area readers from the Livestock Weekly. The Jan. 17 edition, in its "Hindsights" column -- dedicated to a look backward through its publication files -- carried this notice under the news from 50 years ago: "R.L. Vaughan of San Angelo reportedly bought 150,000 pounds of 12-months wool from L.M. Stephens, Lometa, at $1.50 clean basis and 60,000 pounds from Carl Cloud & Son, Lampasas, at the same price." Longtime residents of both Lometa and Lampasas certainly recognize the names of those prominent wool and mohair brokers. ![]() |
