Margie Coleman

Margie Parthene Coleman, 98, of Lampasas died Jan. 31, 2008, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.

Funeral services were Feb. 3 at First Street Church of Christ with Minister Rocky Moncus officiating. Burial was at Hillsdale Cemetery near Izoro.

Mrs. Coleman was born March 21, 1909, in Floydada, the daughter of Ira and Odelia Hayes Upton.

She married Eugene Coleman in 1936.

Mrs. Coleman was a school teacher in Central Texas for many years, including West Oaks (now Kline Whitis Elementary) for the majority of those years.

She was an accomplished quilter.

Survivors include a son, Mondel Coleman, and wife, Betty, of Katy; sisters, Loraine Murrah, of Belton, Janese Lancaster, Ira Dell Storm and Crystal Kramer, all of Lampasas, and Bonnie Davis, of Tennessee; a brother, Conrad Upton, of Copperas Cove; five grandchildren, DeLynn Bostick, Bryce Coleman, Natalie Sommerfeld, Amy Butler and Julie Nolen; and three great-grandchildren, Austin Sommerfeld, Anna Sommerfeld and Benjamin Bostick.

Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband; by a daughter, Linda Gene Nolan; by two brothers, Frank Upton and Orvilee Upton; and a sister, Ethel McCullough.
