Cattle Auction

The report from the Jan. 30 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 682 compared to 579 last week and 1,036 last year. Feeder steers and heifers $1-$3 higher; slaughter cows $1-$2 higher, and slaughter bulls $2-$4 higher.

Bulk supply medium and large 1-2 200 lb. to 850 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Feeder steers and heifers accounted for 65 percent and slaughter cows and bulls 27 percent of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 40 percent of the run and heifers 30 percent. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs. totaled 15 percent.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 215-270 lb., $126-$128, several 250 lb., $139; 300-400 lb., $124-$130; 400-500 lb., $119-$125; 500-600 lb., $111- $118; 600-700 lb., $101-$105; 700-800 lb., $95-$99.

Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $113-$116; 400-500 lb., $112-$116 lb.; 500-600 lb., $103- $109; 600-700 lb., $92-$99; 700- 800 lb., $85-$93.50; 800-900 lb., $83-$89.

Medium and large frame 3, 400- 500 lb., $105-$110; 500-600 lb., $91-$98.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400-500 lb., $110- $116; 500-600 lb., $103-$112; 600-700 lb. $91-$101.

Medium and large frame 2, few 300-400 lb., $110-$115; 400-500 lb., $102-$108; 500-600 lb., $95.50-$101; 600-700 lb., $85- $89; few 700-800 lb., $85-$92.

Medium and large frame 3: 400- 500 lb., $95-$99; 500-600 lb., $90- $94.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb. high dressing, $54-$57 lb.; boners, 80- 85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $49-$53.50, high dressing, $52-$55 lb.; boners, 80- 85 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $47.50-$50.50; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $46-$46.50; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,000-1,200 lb., low dressing, $35-$38.

Slaughter bulls: yield grade 1- 2, 1,835-2,120 lb., $65.50-$67; high dressing, 1,620-1,800 lb., $68.50; low dressing, 1,480-1,550 lb., $59.50-$62.50.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 1,155-1,550 lb. cows, 5 to 8 months bred, $850-$925 per head; aged, 840-1,115 lb. cows, 2-7 months bred, $525-$800 per hd.

Cow/calf pairs: Medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged to 1,225 lb. cows with 150 lb. calves, $750 per pair.
