Hawks officially end Badgers' playoff bid

Pflugerville Hendrickson is certainly approaching the postseason on a roll

On Tuesday night, the Hawks beat Lampasas 89-55 to eliminate the Badgers from playoff contention and to keep their team scoring average at 94 points per game over the past three games.

The Badgers (15-12 overall, 3-6 in District 25-4A) must win out and get some help to finish fourth in the district. The Hawks (9-1 in district) are tied with Lake Travis atop the district, one game ahead of Pflugerville Connally.

Hendrickson overcame a 17 of 32 shooting night by the Badgers by connecting on 30 of 43 shots from the floor themselves.

"Our game plan was to hold the ball and run the clock," LHS head coach Scott Harrelson said. "Obviously we didn't. If not for a fourminute dry spell by Hendrickson, they might have scored 120. They forced us to dribble fast and take quick shots. While our shot selection and shooting percentage was good, we didn't use the clock, and it turned into scoring for them."

Junior post Heath Hopson led the Badgers with 22 points and nine rebounds. He is averaging 20.7 points and 9.3 boards per game.

Senior post Heath Cofield scored 14 and grabbed nine rebounds to run his season averages to 9.6 points and six rebounds per game. Senior guard Clay Tyner, who averages 10.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest, registered three assists. Jonathan VanLiew had three assists, and Phillip Weber scored seven points.
