Feb. 3-9 -- the week prior to Valentine's Day -- residents are invited to join the Lampasas County Farm Bureau in the celebration of America's true love: food.
Based on statistics from the Texas Department of Agriculture, Farm Bureau's Food Check-Off Week marks the date when average Americans will have earned enough income to pay for their entire year's food supply.
Americans must work much longer to earn enough disposable income to pay for health and medical insurance (52 days) and federal taxes (77 days) for the entire year.
In recognition of this, the Lampasas County Farm Bureau will serve breakfast for Food Check-Off Day at the Farm Bureau building Tuesday from 7 to 9 a.m.
Cost for breakfast is $.45 per per- son. This is about the amount the farmer receives for the raw product.
