Mrs. Rundzieher
The Revs. Ellen Ely and Billy J. Hammond were officiants. Burial was at Crescent Valley Cemetery in Bloomington. Mrs. Rundzieher died Jan. 28 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 13, 1942, in Beeville, the daughter of Alvin Adolph and Levada Mae Covington Ryan. Mrs. Rundzieher grew up in Kenedy where she attended public school. She graduated from Durham Business College in San Antonio. She married Ernest Allen Rundzieher on Dec. 23, 1961, in Victoria. The Rundziehers began their married lives in Victoria before moving to Houston where they lived for almost 20 years. In 1989, Mrs. Rundzieher went to work for the Texas Department of Corrections as a correctional officer in the Ramsey I Unit in Rosharon. In January 1990, she and her husband transferred to Gatesville, where Mrs. Rundzieher opened the Hughes unit, and in 1992, the couple transferred to Beeville and opened the McConnell unit. The Rundziehers moved to the Austin area in 1997 after his retirement, and Mrs. Rundzieher transferred to the Travis County unit as the inmate grievance counselor. She retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on Aug. 31, 2003. Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Allen and Jeannie Rundzieher, and William (Bill) and Dee Ann Rundzieher; her mother; six grandchildren, Christina, Ryan, Ashley, Ben, Will and James; her daughter, Donna Allen; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, and by a brother, James (Jim) Franklin Ryan. The family requested memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Cancer Research, P.O.
