LHS soccer teams open district slate today

The Lampasas High School boys' and girls' soccer teams are scheduled to open District 8-4A play today.

The LHS boys will play host to Brownwood at 7:30 p.m., while the LHS girls will play at Brownwood at 7:30 p.m. The junior varsity games are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

The LHS boys are coming off a 6-0 loss at Marble Falls on Friday night.

The game was knotted in a scoreless tie for the first 52 minutes and change, but after the Mustangs scored on a header in the 52nd minute, they tallied two more goals in the next six minutes and controlled the remainder of the game.

The Mustangs recorded 13 shots on goal, and the Badgers took five. Three of those shots came off the foot of senior forward Sam Barbero, who narrowly missed a goal on a first-half corner kick.

Alex Rininger and Bryon Edwards both saw time in net with Rininger recording six saves and Edwards registering one.
