Classes for remediation for TAKS set
      Lampasas High School will offer TAKS remediation classes each Tuesday and Thursday from 3:35- 5:30 p.m. in the Beta Lab (room 302) beginning today and running through April 24. With teacher assistance, students will utilize the Study Island Math and Science Remediation Program.

      Mackenzie Martin read the inscription on the historial marker placed at Nix recently. Settlers first came to the area in the 1860s, and a school was established in 1885.

It's a girl!
      Jay Paul and Kari Roy of Georgetown announce the birth of their daughter, Asah Elizabeth, born Dec. 4, 2007, at 1:28 p.m., at Georgetown. At arrival, the young lady weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20 inches in length. She joins two brothers, Judson, 6, and Straton, 5.

Gem society plans to meet
      Highland Lakes Gem & Mineral Society will meet Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Marble Falls, Broadway and U.S. Highway 281 South. Enter through the back door in the lower hall. The program will be a video of a sunken treasure recovery. Visitors are welcome.

Two named to Honor Roll
      The University of Mary Hardin- Baylor has listed its fall 2007 Provost Honor Roll. To be eligible, a student must achieve a 3.7 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale. From Lampasas, Ashley Margaret Lowe was named to the honor roll.

Youths garner show awards
      Lampasas County youth performed well at Kerrville at the recent Hill Country District Livestock Show. In the market steer division, Madison Langford earned a blue ribbon with her first-place lightweight exotic steer. John Cole Vann exhibited the second place heavyweight exotic steer.
