CTC lists upcoming non-credit courses

The Continuing Education Department at Central Texas College is offering a variety of classes including art, self-improvement and business classes. Registration is underway now for the following classes:

Watercolor: You do not have to be an artist to enjoy this class. Learn to paint clouds, trees and landscapes while discussing color theory, techniques and perspective. Class will meet Mondays, Jan. 28 to March 10, 6:30- 9 p.m. Cost is $37.

Intention and Goal Setting: Learn and practice the language and focus of setting clear intentions and goals to manifest what you choose in life. Students will participate in a brief sound meditation and practice how to design and word goals. Class will meet Tuesday from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Cost is $26.

Life Lessons for Women: Become your own life coach as the class focuses on personal, academic and career goals while enhancing self-esteem and selfworth. Class will meet Fridays, Feb. 1 to March 14, 6-8 p.m. Cost is $34 plus $10 for the workbook.

Water Fitness Training: Develop strength and flexibility while improving posture and body awareness in this aquatic fitness course. Class combines Pilates and yoga movements modified for the water. No swimming skills are necessary. Class will meet Fridays, Feb. 1 to March 7, 11:45 a.m.- 12:45 p.m. Cost is $19.

Basic Upholstery: Breathe new life into garage sale finds and old furniture by learning the basics of upholstery. In class you will work on small-scale projects like chairs, headboards, foot stools and cornice boards. Students are asked to bring an item to work on. Class will meet Saturdays, Feb. 2- 23, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $24 plus the cost of supplies.

Life Lessons for Teens (ages 12 and older): Discover ways to enhance self-esteem while focusing on personal and academic goals. Class will meet Saturdays, Feb. 2 to March 1, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $34 plus $10 for the workbook.

Women's Belly Dance: Learn the basics of this feminine, ancient dance from the Middle East and North Africa. The dance is also a fun form of exercise which teaches muscle isolation. Class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 4 to March 3, 6-7 p.m. Cost is $36.

Jazzercise: This class offers a blend of jazz dance and exercise science set to your favorite music. Easy-to-follow choreography includes a warm-up, aerobic workout, strengthening with weights and a stretch finale. Class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 4- 27, 5:40- 6:40 p.m. There also is a class each Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 5-28, at the same times. Cost for either class is $26.

Art classes available include charcoal portrait drawing, Fridays, Feb. 1 -22, for $24; acrylic painting, Saturdays, Feb. 2-23, for $24; and graphic design with Adobe Photoshop on Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 4 to March 3, for $84.
