Hornets drop close game to Rochelle

The Lometa High School boys basketball team will have its work cut out for it if it wants to advance to the playoffs.

A 60-58 loss to Rochelle last Friday and a 58-50 loss to Eden on Tuesday dropped the Hornets to 2-3 in District 29-1A Division II with state power Richland Springs on the schedule tonight. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Lometa.

"We're really going to have to play well in the second half (of the district loop), but I think we can do that," LHS assistant Wayne Belyeu said.

In the loss to Rochelle, the Hornets were down by as many as 15 points before rallying to within 60-58. TJ Rolan scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Joe Michael Rivera scored 13 points and registered 10 rebounds, and Brandon Faubion recorded eight points and six boards.

In the loss to Eden, Rolan finished with 13 points and six rebounds, and Faubion recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds. Rivera tallied 11 points, and Toby Davis pulled in five rebounds.
