Youth authors', illustrators' conference on tap

Central Texas Reading Council's Youth Authors and Illustrators Conference 2008 is Feb .9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parker Academic Center at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton.

Cost is $25 per child, and $15 for additional children in the same household.

Children in grades one through 12 are invited to enroll for the fullday's conference which will include large and small presentations by authors and songwriter Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton, Richard Trout and Ashleigh Weyemer.

Participants can sharpen their illustrating and writing skills with workshops on mysteries, poetry, comic book art, storytelling, using technology and more.

Youngsters are encouraged to bring their own works to share with other young illustrators and authors.
