Hamilton Genealogy Society seeks monetary donations

The Hamilton County Genealogy Society Library and Research Center is experiencing financial hardship, officers have announced. Nancy Hengst, who managed the genealogy library as an unpaid volunteer since 1991, suffered a stroke in 2007 and is in the process of regaining her health.

The library and research center reopened after being closed for several months but is having difficulty meeting operating expenses. If the situation does not change, Hamilton County Genealogy Society officers said the genealogy library may have to close permanently.

The society is soliciting financial aid for the organization. In addition, its officers are asking for volunteers to assist Ms. Hengst in the genealogy library.

Donations to the non-profit organization may be sent to Hamilton County Genealogy Society, P.O. Box 20, Hamilton, TX 76531.

Anyone with questions may contact Carlian Massingill Pittman, president of the Hamilton County Genealogy Society, at (817) 832- 2632 or via e-mail at carlianp@ sbcglobal.net.
