Badger band to play at music fest

The fifth annual Central Texas Music Festival will be held at the Lea Ledger Auditorium on the campus of Copperas Cove High School.

Special guest conductor will be Director Emeritus retired Col. John R. Burgeois, USMC, 25th director of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band from 1979-1996.

Burgeois directed through nine presidential administrations from Dwight D. Eisenhower to Bill Clinton.

Musical performances will be a mix ranging from Texas high school bands and orchestras, to include the Lampasas Badger Band.

Also performing are soloists, jazz ensembles, the 36th Infantry Division Band from Fort Hood and a number of recorded artists.

Performances are set Feb. 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 each night beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free. CDs and DVDs will be offered for sale each evening.

This is the largest non-competitive free music festival in Central Texas.
