LHS soccer competes in Stephenville tournament

The Lampasas High School boys' soccer team went 0-2-1 at the 2008 Knights of Columbus Invitational Soccer Tournament in Stephenville over the weekend.

The Badgers (0-7-1) lost the opener to Marble Falls, 2-0. Alex Rininger had five saves in goal, and Ross Weems took three of the Badgers' five shots.

They fell to Azle, 3-0, in the second round. The Badgers had 10 shots on goal, including three by Walter Oosthuizen.

In the finale, Rininger had three saves in a 0-0 tie.

LHS senior forward Sam Barbero, who was named to the alltournament team, attempted three of the Badgers' seven shots on goal.

The LHS girls' team, which went 1-2 in Stephenville, is scheduled to play at Cedar Park Vista Ridge at 7 p.m. today.

The LHS boys' team is scheduled to play at Marble Falls at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The LHS junior varsity boys' team is scheduled to play in the Copperas Cove Tournament Wednesday through Friday.
