Sub-Varsity Roundup The Lampasas High School freshman girls' basketball team just keeps on doing what it has done all season long - winning. The Lady Badgers ran their unbeaten streak to 21 games over the weekend, mauling Marble Falls, 47- 15, on Friday and blasting Burnet, 38-18, on Saturday. The wins ran the Lady Badgers' District 25-4A mark to 9-0 with four games to play. They are scheduled to play host to Austin Lake Travis at 8 p.m. today. In the win against Marble Falls, Madison Morris led the team with 14 points and seven rebounds and added three assists. Marisa Bogart registered 12 points and five assists. Jennifer Herron had eight points and five steals. Makenzi Myrick and Falon Holland had four rebounds apiece, and Shelby O'Connor had three steals. The Lady Badgers led 22-9 at the half before outscoring the Lady Mustangs 25-6 in the second half, holding them scoreless in the fourth quarter. "We shot well from outside early to take an early lead," Coach Jimmie Cain said. In the win against Burnet, the Lady Badgers led 28-10 at the half. "Our girls responded well to a physical Burnet team," Cain said. Herron scored a team-high 16 points and also added four steals and two assists. Myrick had eight points and two assists. Bogart registered seven points, six steals and two assists. Holland finished with five points, four rebounds and two steals. Morris grabbed four rebounds. LHS JV Girls The Lampasas High School junior varsity girls' team evened its season record at 11-11 with two wins over the weekend. The Lady Badgers jumped out to a 16-8 lead and held off Marble Falls, 42-38, on Friday and scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to nip Burnet, 34-33, on Saturday. "After a very slow start, we had a great team effort to pull out a big win," JV coach Stuart Beckwith said. MaKayla Valles led the team with 12 points against Burnet, canning three 3-pointers. Kayla Lowery led the team with 10 points against Marble Falls. The Lady Badgers are scheduled to play host to Lake Travis at 5 p.m. today. |
