Swing band to raise funds for Temple Lions

Temple Lions Club is staging a benefit concert Feb. 16 at the Cultural Arts Center.
Ricky Boen & Texas Mud from Branson, Mo., will swing on stage at the Azalee Marshall Cultural Activities Center at Temple's Cultural Arts Center Feb. 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Texas Mud, a six-piece swing band, led by Ricky Boen, is making its mark on Texas Swing, a style popularized by Spade Cooley, Bob Wills and contemporaries George Strait and Asleep at the Wheel.

Boen is the 1983 World Champion fiddle player from Odessa, and his group won the coveted Will Rogers Award. They also were named Western Swing Group of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists in 2001.

The family-style show is the Temple Breakfast Lions Club's annual fund-raiser.

General admission tickets are $15 each with no reserve seating. Tickets are on sale at Marine Outlet, Railroad & Heritage Museum Gift Shop or the CAC.
