Mr. Deaton

Roger D. Deaton, 63, of Copperas Cove died of heart failure Jan. 15, 2008, at the Temple Veterans Administration Hospital.

Graveside services were Jan. 19 at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, Miss., with the Rev. Bernard Wiggins officiating, assisted by the Rev. Charles Runnels.

Mr. Deaton was born June 23, 1944, in Ruleville, the son of Refus and Martha Kennedy Deaton.

He attended Sunnyside and Leflore county schools and retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years as a diesel mechanic.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Kim Deaton, of Copperas Cove; two daughters, Diane Deaton Smith, and husband, Allen, and Jo Ann Deaton, of Copperas Cove; brothers, Dexter Deaton, of Minter City, Miss., Hal Wayne Deaton, of Gore Springs, Miss., and Billy Joe Deaton, of Nashville, Tenn.; sisters, Peggy Burden, of Greenwood, Miss., Ina Gordon, of Waveland, Miss., and Jane Neuhausser, of Lebanon, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Garrett Smith and Austin Smith.
