Must-Win Home Game
Marble Falls at Lampasas
Boys', girls' playoff hopes hinge on tonight's game

PHOTO BY RICHARD AKRIDGE LHS junior post Heath Hopson scored 14 points in last Friday's 47-44 win against Dripping Springs.
For the Lampasas boys' basketball team, it's an opportunity to leapfrog a team in the District 25- 4A standings and crawl back into the playoff race.

For the LHS girls, it's an opportunity to upset one of the top Class 4A basketball teams in the state. And in doing it, they would provide some oxygen to their flickering playoff hopes.

The LHS boys (13-9 overall, 1-4 in district) are scheduled to play host to Marble Falls (12-11, 2-3) at 6:30 p.m. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Lady Badgers (8- 16, 2-5) will play host to the topranked Lady Mustangs (21-3, 7-0).

The Badgers are coming off their first district win of the season, a 47- 44 road victory against Dripping Springs. The Mustangs are coming of a 59-33 win against Burnet.

The Lady Badgers are coming off back-to-back district losses, including last Friday's 74-50 loss at Dripping Springs. The Lady Mustangs are coming off a 59-32 win against Burnet.

For the Badgers to remain in the playoff race, they probably need to win seven of their last nine games, starting with tonight's game and Saturday's 8 p.m. game at Burnet. Six of the remaining nine games are at home.

The Badgers got a boost at Dripping Springs when senior exchange student Marvin Mouroum returned to the court for the first time since re-injuring a knee before the season. Mouroum had three rebounds and two points in limited action.

For the Lady Badgers, tonight's game marks the opening of the second half of the district loop. They lost to Marble Falls 53-35 in the district opener on Dec. 4.
