Lampasas County Conservative Club met recently to discuss the future of the club. Club officers, who had been in their leadership positions for several years, expressed a desire to move into support roles and have new leaders step up or disband the association.
A continued desire to see the non-partisan club flourish was acknowledged, and several members expressed a willingness to take on the leadership roles. As a result, new officers were elected.
Harry Hendrix accepted the position of chairman of the board. He succeeds Charles Wernette, who passed away Dec. 31. Bruce Crawford was elected president, and T.P. Wingo will serve as vice president.
Crawford appointed LCCC member Dan Corbin of Killeen as club secretary and Diana McDonald as treasurer. Ray Upp of Kempner will continue as sergeant at arms, and Mary Casbeer will remain as director at large.
An audit will take place before the transfer of treasurer duties is complete, and authorized signatories on the bank account were named.
Club members also made note of the recent death of club founder Dr. Gene Overton, who served as the first chairman of the Lampasas County Conservative Club.
Members expressed a desire to continue hosting political forums to help educate voters on candidates and issues of local importance.
