Former museum curator presents program to 36 Club members
Amy McDaniel, a 36 Club member, shared her experience as a curator for museums in the northeastern U.S. for the GFWC/ TFWC 36 club at its meeting Jan. 10 at the Hancock Springs Hostess House.
Mrs. McDaniel used a Power Point presentation as she traced her career in publishing then as a curator in New York and Connecticut.
A curator is in charge of a museum and does research on exhibit items, secures items for exhibit through donations and/or purchase, puts together exhibits, and served as a courier carrying art pieces from museum to museum. Mrs. McDaniel said she enjoyed her job, especially her travels all over the world.
Hostesses were Carol Davis, Dorothy Duncan and JoAnn Garner with 22 members present. President Crystal Hammett presided.
Correspondence secretary Mrs. Duncan read several thank-you notes for donations and gifts.
Nomination Committee chairman Bea Hohman and her committee were charged with presenting a slate of officers at the February meeting.
Projects chair Virginia Blaylock collected items for M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Mrs. Hammett announced the Capitol District 2008 Spring Convention will be March 11 in Giddings. She was nominated first vice president of Capitol District and installation will be held in Giddings.
Next meeting is Feb. 14 at the home of Marion Hammett with co-hostesses Crystal Hammett and June Davis.
Ginger Henderson of Rollins Brook Community Hospital will speak on strokes and shingles.
Members are asked to bring flour, sugar, laundry soap or dishwashing soap for donation to Lampasas Mission.
