LHS student receives All-State Band honors
      Amanda Garrison, a member of the Lampasas High School Band, will perform with the Texas All- State Band in San Antonio Feb. 16 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, as part of the 2008 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic and Convention.

Cookie sales begin Saturday
      Girl Scout cookies sales are set to begin Jan. 19. In addition to being purchased via traditional door-to-door residential sales, the cookies now can be found through an online booth locator. The Girl Scouts of Central Texas is one of 16 councils nationwide to pilot the online locator this year.

      AMVETS Post 80 is sponsoring a beneft for Mary Ann Doss Frank, a longtime beautician and Lampasas County resident. She has been fighting cancer for the past several years. A barbecue dinner with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the post home.

      Pedernales Electric will award $1,000 scholarships to 50 graduating seniors whose parents or legal guardians are PEC members. The scholarships may be used for tuition, books and expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college, technical or trade school.

      Project Graduation for the Lampasas High School Class of 2008 will have a dinner and auction Feb. 16 at AMVETS Post 80. An all-you-can-eat catfish dinner and trimmings begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the live auction at 7 p.m.

      Lampasas Aglow, a Community Lighthouse of Aglow International, will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at Holiday Inn Express. Cynthia Ritchie will be guest speaker. A native Texan, she is married to David Ritchie. The couple have three children and two grandchildren.
