Mr. Franks

Robert Franks
Retired Lt. Col. Robert Jean Franks, 75, of Lampasas died Jan. 10, 2008, in a local hospital.

Funeral services were Jan. 14 at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas.

Mr. Franks was born Nov. 4, 1932, in Gatesville, the son of Cody Carlson and Francis Fay Hopson Franks.

He was a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was involved in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Mr. Franks was a member of Community Church in Lampasas and was active in the Lampasas County Conservative Club, the American Legion, Lampasas Kiwanis Club and Lampasas VFW. He was a past commander of AMVETS Post 80 in Lampasas.

Survivors include his wife, Dortha "Dot" Smith Franks, of Lampasas; a son, Robert C. Franks, of Lampasas; a stepson, Ronald Feickert, and wife, Elaine, of Lampasas; a stepdaughter, Tammy Thomas, of Lampasas; brothers, Ross H. Franks, and wife, Bernice, and Dean Hopson, and wife, Wanda, all of Arlington; a brother-in-law, Robert "R.O." Erwin, of Lampasas; 13 step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Ann Guthrie Franks; and by a sister, Daisy Erwin.
