LHS soccer teams open seasons at Marble Falls The Lampasas High School girls' and boys' soccer teams opened their regular season at the fifth annual Mustang Winter Classic in Marble Falls on Friday and Saturday. The Lady Badgers (1-2-1) finished fourth in a field of eight, and the boys (0-4) did not place. The Lady Badgers opened the tournament with a 5-0 loss against District 8-4A foe San Angelo Lake View. They rebounded from the loss by forcing a scoreless tie against Austin Reagan. Elizabeth Hawthorn recorded the shutout in goal against Reagan. The Lady Badgers followed that shutout with another, topping Del Valle 1-0. Bonnie Wallace recorded the shutout, and Lucy Wolfram tallied the goal. Marble Falls blanked the Lady Badgers, 1-0, in the third-place game. The Badgers opened the tournament with a 6-0 loss to Rowlett. They fell to St. Michael's, 3-1, to Fredericksburg, 5-0, and to Wimberley, 5-1. "We improved our play throughout the tournament despite some lopsided scores," LHS head boys' coach Greg Porter said. "We had 12 shots on goal against Wimberley, and we played a strong first half against St. Michael's but didn't have the same consistency in the second half."
