Freshman girls 19-0

The Lampasas High School freshman girls' basketball team turned it yet another dominating performance on Friday night with a 47-32 win at Dripping Springs.

The Lady Badgers (19-0) fell behind 9-6 in the first period but gathered themselves and outscored the Lady Tigers 41-23 the rest of the way.

"Both teams were undefeated in district coming into the game, and the kids played hard and got a hard-fought win," said coach Stuart Beckwith.

Fallon Holland and Jennifer Herron led the Lady Badgers with 13 points apiece, and Madison Morris added nine.

The Lady Badgers will put their undefeated mark to the test on Friday when they play host to Marble Falls at 6:30 p.m.

Dripping Springs JV Girls 47, LHS JV 44: The Lady Badgers found themselves on the short end of a back-and-forth contest on the road Friday night.

After falling behind 14-6 in the first period, the Lady Badgers (9-11) rallied to lead 21-20 at the break. They were outscored 16-9 in the third period but outscored the Lady Tigers 14-11 in the fourth.

"I was not disappointed in the effort," said Beckwith.

"We just didn't have enough good things happen for us in the final two minutes of the ball game."

Kayla Lowery scored 13 points and led the team with eight rebounds.

Lori Stafford tossed in 13 points, Sam Gauna scored seven, and Kaylyn Urofsky had seven assists.

The Lady Badgers are scheduled to play host to Marble Falls at 5 p.m. Friday.
