Constable Hiram Jones dies Friday

Lampasas County Constable Hiram Walker Jones died Jan. 11, 2008, at his residence in Adamsville. He was 67.

Funeral services were Jan. 14 at First Baptist Church in Adamsville with the Rev. Glynn Tyson and Marcus Foster officiating. Burial was at Townsen Cemetery near Adamsville.

Mr. Jones was born Feb. 20, 1940, in Adamsville, the son of Luther D. and Lena Elizabeth Green Jones.

He married Linda McClain in Lampasas on Dec. 8, 1964.

Mr. Jones was elected constable for Lampasas County in 1978 and was serving in that capacity at the time of his death.

He also was a deputy for the Lampasas County Sheriff's Office and had received advanced law enforcement training.

Mr. Jones, a Methodist, was a member of the Texas Sheriff's AsSee sociation and the Texas Constable's Association.

Survivors include his wife of Adamsville; three daughters, Beth Foster, and husband, Marcus, Nikki Hyatt, and husband, Andrew, and Amanda Simmons, and husband, Matthew, all of Adamsville; two brothers, Darrell Jones, and wife, Gilma, of Adamsville, and Troy Jones, of Lampasas; and 11 grandchildren, Ashley Foster, Leanna Foster, Brooklynn Foster, Zachery Foster, Alex Hyatt, Justin Hyatt, Marlee Hyatt, Lane Hyatt, Summer Hyatt, Madeline Simmons and Ethan Simmons.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Doug Jones and Allen Jones.
