Introduction to Celtic Christianity slated

"On Holy Ground: An Introduction to Celtic Christian Spirituality" will be taught Jan. 13, Jan. 20 and Jan. 27 by the Rev. Dr. David M. Evans of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

The study will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Lampasas beginning with a coffee fellowship at 9:30 a.m., followed by the study and discussion.

Participants can take a "visit" to Ireland, Scotland and Wales, especially the island of Iona, to discover how 21st-century Presbyterians can deepen their faith in light of the practices of the ancient Celtic Christians, their spiritual ancestors.

Each week will begin with a prayer in the Celtic way, and participants will discover the unique origins of the Celtic cross.

Evans has served as director of seminar relations at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary since August 2003.

Prior to that, he was a pastor for 31 years.
