Red Cross has successful drive

Wanda Meyers, coordinator of the American Red Cross Community Blood Drive, said she is overwhelmed with the support received from regular donors Monday.

"It was a fabulous day, and I am thrilled with the turnout. We couldn't have done this without our faithful donors."

Eighty-two pints of blood were received at the first drive of the year.

Gayle Myers received an 11-gallon pin; Anita Hicks earned an eight-gallon pin; Tom Dahl was presented a seven-gallon pin; and Carmel Leblanc was given a onegallon pin.

Mrs. Meyers thanked all of the donors and volunteers who made the drive a success, including local Boy Scouts who put out posters prior to the event.

"For every gallon of blood donated, you can save three lives," she said. "Today, we potentially saved 246 lives."

Next drive is March 3 from 12:30-6:30 p.m. at AMVETS Post 80.
