Mrs. Maldonado

Lucy Maldonado
Funeral services for Luz (Lucy) Maldonado, 96, of Lubbock, formerly of Lampasas, were Jan. 9, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Piña officiating, assisted by Father Heriberto Mercado. Rosary was recited Jan. 8 at Guajardo Funeral Chapel of Lubbock.

Burial was Jan. 10 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas under the direction of Sneed Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Maldonado died Jan. 6, 2008.

She was born Feb. 4, 1911, in El Paso, to Jose Delgado and Ana Velardez. She was reared in Central Texas, making her home in Lampasas in the early 1930s until she moved to Lubbock in 1987.

Mrs. Maldonado was very active at church where she was a member of The Guadalupanas, Altar Society and a Cursillista.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Mary Julia and Marcelo Aguilar of Lubbock, Genoveva and Robert De La Cruz of Lampasas, and Matilda and Robert Morales; of Georgetown; 25 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Manuel; by a son, three brothers; and three sisters.

Pallbearers were David Curiel, Robert Curiel, Marcelo Aguilar Jr., Danny Aguirre, Joe Aguilar, Tommy Aguirre and Mark Morales.

Honorary Pallbearers were Domingo De La Cruz, Gerardo Aguilar, Antonio Aguilar, Cipriano Aguirre and Thomas Aguirre.

The family requested memorials be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or Hospice of Lubbock.
