A Good Samaritan on Christmas Eve

I am writing to inform you of a good Samaritan living in your community, Mr. Dewayne Hall of the local Auto Zone store. It was Christmas Eve, and my wife and I along with our 7-year-old daughter were returning from Brownwood to Austin for the holidays when we had a bit of car trouble. It was a battery issue, and we barely made it into town before the car finally died.

We made it to the northern-most Shell station where the attendant informed us we were six traffic lights away from the Auto Zone, which happened to be the only parts store open at that time on Christmas Eve, and thank God for that.

After we walked to the Auto Zone, which was quite a haul when you just want to get home, and explained our story to Dewayne, I noticed that the battery I had just purchased did not have a handle. Thinking we were walking of course, I mentioned this to Dewayne. He said it's not a problem, and "I'll tell you why. Because I'm about to go on my lunch break, and I'm going to drive you guys down there." Needless to say, my wife and I were very grateful but not as much as our 7- year-old. She was wearing terrible walking shoes.

To thank him, we offered money and/or to pay for his lunch, but he refused saying that he is old-fashioned and believes in doing things like that.

Well Mr. Hall, here is some good karma for you. I hope you and yours had a great Christmas. And if his superiors at work read this, I truly believe he is definitely upper-level management material. Thank you from the Teagues.
