Police seek suspect in robberies

A suspect is shown during a bank robbery in Temple, above left, and at a recent bank robbery in Copperas Cove, at right.
On Wednesday, Copperas Cove police received a call that the Extraco Bank at 1003 East U.S. Highway 190 had been robbed.

The initial investigation revealed that a black male in dark clothing entered the bank, approached a teller, produced a silver colored handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect left the bank on foot and headed east.

He is described as slender, in his late 20s to early 30s and approximately six feet tall. In addition to wearing dark clothing, he had a black ski hat or beanie cap.

Police said the man who committed the robbery resembles the suspect that robbed the Guaranty Bank in the 1300 block of South 31st Street in Temple on Dec. 20.

No one was injured during the robberies.

The investigation continues with Copperas Cove and Temple police officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Anyone with information on the cases or who knows the identity of the offender is encouraged to contact Copperas Cove Crime Stoppers at (254) 547-1111 or submit a tip online at www.Tipsubmit.com.

Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 in cash for clues if information leads to an arrest and prosecution. Callers need not reveal their identity.
