Mrs. Love

Marion Kirkpatrick Love
Funeral services for Marion Kirkpatrick Love, 88, are Jan. 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Stephen Schmidt officiating and Pastor Mike Kerzee assisting. Graveside services will be at 4:45 p.m. at the Garden of Memories in Kerrville.

Visitation is Jan. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, which has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Love was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Itasca, the daughter of Monroe "Buddy" and Pearl Kirkpatrick. The family soon moved to the Chapman Ranch near Corpus Christi, where her father was a machinist.

She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class.

She married Martin Cyril Love in 1938, who was an oil rig builder in the South Texas oil fields.

After World War II, Mrs. Love convinced her husband to give up rig building and he and his brother, Olen bought a Desoto/Plymouth dealership in Alice.

In 1949, they sold the dealership and spent a year in Kerrville before again joining up with her husband's brother. They purchased a Ford dealership in Lampasas. That dealership became Love Brothers and was the forerunner of Cove Ford in Copperas Cove.

Mrs. Love lived in Lampasas for 32 years, moving to Copperas Cove in 1982. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983.

She was active in Grace United Methodist Church and attended UMW, Bible study classes and Sunday School until her health kept her from regular attendance.

Her favorite pastimes included reading her Bible and Christianbased novels.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Richard and Marvel Love, and Bob and Mary Love, all of Copperas Cove, and Patrick and Lynn Love, of McGregor; one sister, Virginia Curry, of Diboll; a brother, Roger Kirkpatrick, of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Dale, Chip, Rick, Kirt, Michael and Keenan Love, Jackie Powell, Ginger Burt, Christi Harris and Courtney Solomon; 22 greatgrandchildren; and one greatgreat granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Love was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Freeman, and a niece.

Pallbearers are Dale Love, Chip Love, Rick Love, Kirt Love, Keenan Love and Michael Love.

The family requested memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 101 W. Ave. F, Copperas Cove, TX 76522.
