Mr. Hulsey
Funeral services were Nov. 20 at First Baptist Church in Alief. Graveside services were Nov. 21 at Senterfitt Cemetery at Lometa. Mr. Hulsey was born Oct. 3, 1943, in Lampasas, the son of Alfred and Mozell Hulsey. He was a 1962 Lampasas High School graduate. Mr. Hulsey graduated from the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy in 1966, serving as a state trooper until 1972 when he was promoted to polygraph examiner after graduating from Texas A&M University Police Polygraph School. He was stationed in Houston and was regional polygraph examiner for DPS until 1975. From 1977 to 1984, Mr. Hulsey was instructor for the Texas A&M University Polygraph School, and from 1986-89, he served as director of the Polygraph School at the University of Houston. In 1975, he opened his own polygraph business, Ernie Hulsey & Assoc., and retained it until his death. Mr. Hulsey was known for his polygraph skills locally and nationally. He was appointed by the governor to serve on the State Board of Polygraph Examiners and was secretary in 1989, vice chairman in 1990 and chairman in 1992. Mr. Hulsey also served on the Board of the Texas Associates of Polygraph Examiners. He was a deacon and an active member of First Baptist Church of Alief. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jane Jennings Hulsey, of Houston; two daughters, Sherlyn Hulsey, of Houston, and Andrea Maestretti, of Richmond; a grandson, Wil Maestretti, of Richmond; three brothers, Roger Hulsey, and wife, Juanita, of Carthage, Bobby Hulsey, and wife, Peggy, of Burnet, and Gary Hulsey, and wife, Janice, of Marble Falls; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. |
