Area churches plan Yule services, events

A number of area churches are offering services or special events in conjunction with the Christmas holidays. A listing of some of those follows.

First Baptist Church of Lampasas will offer an adult choir program, "Celebrate the Season," on Sunday at 7 p.m. A Christmas Eve worship service and Lord's Supper is set at 6 p.m.

New Covenant Church's Family Christmas Worship begins at 10 a.m. Sunday.

At Grace Fellowship, Christmas Around the Steinway is set at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

St. Mary's Catholic Church will hold Christmas Eve Liturgy with Children at 5 p.m. The Christmas Eve Vigil Mass (in English) is at 11 p.m.

Christmas Day Mass in Spanish is at 7 p.m. in Lampasas. Christmas Eve Mass will be offered at Lometa's Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 7 p.m.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church will hold an early Christmas Eve service at 4 p.m., and Midnight Mass at 11 p.m. A Christmas Day covered-dish dinner will begin at noon. Meat will be provided by the church.

At First United Methodist Church in Lampasas, a contemporary worship service is set for 9 a.m. Sunday, followed by Sunday School at 10 a.m. Traditional worship is at 11 a.m.

A Christmas Eve Children's Christmas Pageant is at 5 p.m., and a Christmas Eve candlelight service will follow at 7 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church will hold the program, "Lessons, carols and candlelight" on Christmas Eve at 6 p.m.

Looking ahead, the church will provide a New Year's Eve movie night Dec. 31 at 6 p.m.

Community Church's Sunday worship is at 10:45 a.m., and a Wednesday Ladies Bible Study begins at 10 a.m.

Naruna Baptist Church, which celebrates Christmas each Sunday in December, will hold a special Christmas service Sunday at 11 a.m.

School Creek Baptist Church's Christmas program for adults and children is Sunday at 11 a.m. A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be at 5 p.m.

Adamsville Baptist Church will have Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., with a worship service slated to follow at 11 a.m.

Adamsville Presbyterian Church will offer Sunday worship at 8:45 a.m., and a Christmas Eve candlelight service is set at 6 p.m.

Faith Lutheran Church's Sunday School and worship service are at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., respectively, and a Christmas Eve candlelight service is at 7 p.m.

First Baptist Church of Kempner offers Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., and worship service at 11 a.m.

Second Baptist Church holds Sunday services at 9:45 a.m., 10:55 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Lometa United Methodist Church's Christmas Eve communion and candlelight service is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Bend United Methodist Church plans a Christmas Eve communion and candlelight service at 5:30 p.m.

Chapel Hill United Methodist Church's candlelight service and finger food reception is Sunday at 5:30 p.m. The service, in lieu of its regular Sunday morning worship time, is a festival of scripture readings and Christmas carols.

Church of the Hills near Lometa will hold a panoramic 360- degree presentation of "The Gift" on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. Visitors can "step into Bethlehem and experience the Christmas story in 360 detail."
