Elmer Foster Elmer Donald Foster, 87, of Lampasas died Dec. 14, 2008, at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
A memorial service was Dec. 17 at Countryside Baptist Church with Troy Young officiating.
The body will be cremated and a committal service with military honors will be held at a later date at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Foster was born Aug. 4, 1921, in Eldred, Pa., the son of Nellie Amelia Garfield.
He served in the U.S. Army with B Battery 789th Anti-aircraft Artillery stationed at Fort Eustace, Va., Camp Stewart, Ga., Richmond Army Base at Camp Pickett, Va.., Camp Davis, N.C., and at various European duty stations including
England, France, Belgium,
Holland, Luxembourg and Chapel
Germany.
Mr. Foster fought in battles in France, Ardennes and Central Eu- rope including the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a Purple Heart.
Survivors include a son, Gary Foster of Lampasas; a sister, Delores Monroe; a son-in-law, Chris Eiserman; a daughter-in-law, Rae Foster; seven grandchildren, Tina Priest, Susan Boivin, Donald Foster Jr., Shannon Bell, Miranda Dvorak, Mirissa Shanklin and Misty Beck; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; an aunt; several nieces; and a cousin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Almeda; by a daughter, Diane Eiserman; and by two sons, Donald Foster and Lonnie Foster.
