San Saba resident Raymond D. "Corky" Poe, 78, died Dec. 14, 2008, at Eventide Nursing Home in San Saba.

Graveside services were Dec. 17 at Hurst Ranch Cemetery at Star with the Rev. Sam Crosby officiating.

Mr. Poe was born June 17, 1930, in Moline to Elmer Hill and Alice Lucy Arrowood Poe.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Poe married Velma Grumbles on Aug. 8, 1958, in San Saba.

He retired after 27 years with Foremost Milk and then worked for Sheppard Funeral Homes.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of San Saba; two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Joseph (Buster) Wells of San Saba and Kelli and Bill Hubbard of Zephyr; a son and his wife, Mike and Tina Poe of Richland Springs; sisters, Joyce Scogin and Laura and J.T. Bryant, all of Austin; brothers, Bobby Dale and Doris Poe of Lometa and Donald and Peggy Poe of Abilene; grandchildren, John Michael and Christan Poe of Shertz, Winston Poe of Richland Springs; stepgrandchildren, Brad and Hailie Hubbard of Brownwood, Todd and Anita Hubbard of Dallas and Ryan Hubbard of Austin; one step-greatgrandchild, Bentley Hubbard; a sister-in-law, Sharon Ellis of San Saba; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gaylord Scogin.
