Retired teachers celebrate Christmas at Lometa church
The annual Christmas program and meal for the Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association was held Dec. 2 at the Lometa United Methodist Church.
Mary Casbeer prepared the meat, and members furnished side dishes for the covered-dish meal.
President Kay Gray-Fox welcomed everyone. Janie Potts presented a program on TV's The Price is Right, which evoked much laughter and fun. She was assisted by Kathryn Butler and Mrs. Fox.
The Lometa United Methodist Church Bell Choir entertained with several songs.
While the food was being set out, RTA members sang Christmas car- ols, led by Gene Landrum, accompanied by David Hausmann.
Next meeting is Jan. 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lampasas Independent School District Board Room. Superintendent Dr. Brant Myers will present a program and will have a bus ready to transport retired teachers to the new high school building site for a walk-through.
All retired school personnel are invited to join the local chapter.
"We encourage all school retirees (not just teachers) to add their voices to those of other fellow educators to gain perks for retirement," said a group spokesman, who added, "Numbers impress legislators."
