Special celebration
      The Adamsville Heritage Association culminated its 100-year celebration of the founding of its township with a night of Christmas events. A two-mile stretch of the highway was lighted, and Adamsville Baptist Church presented its live Nativity scene.

Swine show a good tune-up for January county event
      The annual District FFA Swine Show held Saturday at the Lampasas County Livestock Show Barn was a day of much success for local FFA and 4-H members. More than 125 hogs from six counties were exhibited, and several youth won champion and reserve champion "bragging rights," as well as showmanship award finalists.

      Fifty-eight Lampasas High School band members participated in the Texas Music Educators Association Region 8 All- Region Band auditions on Saturday at Midway High School. Results follow. All-Region Band Jessie Arbolay, Olaf Meyer, Johnathen Standifer and Stefanie Welker, French horn.

      The annual Christmas program and meal for the Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association was held Dec. 2 at the Lometa United Methodist Church. Mary Casbeer prepared the meat, and members furnished side dishes for the covered-dish meal.

Club showcases artist's work
      The Lampasas Art Club selected Lillian Perkins as its Artist of the Month for December. Her artwork is on exhibit at the gallery at My Girls on East Third Street. Mrs. Perkins was born and grew up on a farm in the Atherton Community in Lampasas County. She credits her grandfather, who was blind, with encouraging her to see and appreciate the beauty all around her.
