Hanna Springs artists holding sale to benefit several local charities
Hanna Springs Intermediate School art teachers -- Robert Bear, Joan Bear and Michael Kuehne -- and students and other staff are having an art sale fund-raiser.
Proceeds will be equally divided between Lampasas Mission (for food), Lampasas Fire Department (for toys) and the school campus (for art display boards).
Parents of art students in grades three through six were recently offered the opportunity to "purchase" their child's artwork or donate the artwork to be sold at a silent auction.
The silent auction is under way, and will continue through Dec. 12. The public is invited to participate. Donated artwork is on display and can be purchased by signing up at the school's front desk to bid on items. Minimum bid is $1.
Persons wanting to make a bid will be given a bid number so purchasers can remain anonymous. Winning bidders will be contacted after auction's end.
Art shoppers also may use the "buy it now" option for a minimum of $5 per piece.
In addition, students in Robert Bear's sixth-grade art classes made ceramic refrigerator magnets and pins to sell for $2 each.
Prints of Hanna, the school's mascot, done by Bear, will sell for $2 each or $5 for a signed print.
"These pieces of original artwork are a perfect gift for that person who has everything," said Joan Bear. "They would make perfect gifts for nursing home residents and would add a little cheer to their walls."
A card will be given, on request, with each purchase noting the organizations that will benefit from proceeds of the sales.
Also, Hanna Springs will host a music program on Dec. 9 for all students, and Mrs. Bear encourages parents and other family members to stop by to view, bid or purchase artwork.
